Depending on your party

A DJ doesn’t plan a birthday the way they plan a wedding.

A DJ at the decks during a birthday in a loft, the cake with sparklers by the window

Birthday

The challenge: getting three generations dancing without emptying the floor. Tell them which decades must play, and when the cake comes out.

Worth asking Do they take requests from guests?

First dance at a wedding in a room with mouldings, the DJ behind the booth at the back

Wedding

Ceremony, drinks, first dance, party: four moods in one day, and in Brussels often two languages on the mic.

Worth asking Can they host in French and Dutch?

Work party in a raw concrete space with a city view, a DJ playing on a small stage

Work party

A volume that lets people talk, a mic for the speeches, an end at the agreed time. And an invoice in your company’s name.

Worth asking Do they invoice your company with VAT?

Henna night: the family in kaftans dances and claps, the DJ plays at the back of the room

Family and traditional celebrations

Christening, communion, coming-of-age party, henna night, Moroccan, Turkish or Congolese wedding: that repertoire can’t be improvised. Look for a DJ who has already played that kind of party.

Worth asking Do you have a video of a party like mine?

A DJ offer on Plaany

Everything is in writing before you say yes.

No “let’s talk on the phone”: every DJ answers your request with a complete offer, which you compare with the others.

DJ Marco’s offer in the Plaany app: €950, rated 4.9 from 9 reviews, DJ and lighting until 2am, €50 under the stated budget, 30% deposit
The price

Three DJs, three prices. Here’s why.

Same date, same venue, same guests: Nora, Marco and Sam have replied. Keep scrolling, the app’s comparison explains the gap line by line.

Plaany app comparison: Nora Beats €780, the cheapest, DJ Marco €950 and Sam Groove €1,180, with the deposit, rating, gap to budget, duration and validity of each offer
  1. Three prices for the same night.

€780, €950 and €1,180, VAT included. The cheapest gets a label, but the price alone doesn’t tell you what you get.

  2. The gap is mostly hours.

Nora plays 5 hours, Marco 6, Sam 7. Per hour, the three offers are close: €156, €158 and €169.

  3. What you pay when you accept.

20% with Nora, 30% with Marco and Sam. The rest goes to the DJ two days after the party.

  4. Your budget, line by line.

You had set €1,000: Nora and Marco stay under it, Sam goes €180 over, or 18%.

  5. Reviews that count.

4.8 from 21 reviews for Nora, 4.9 from 9 for Marco. Every review comes from an organiser who booked them on Plaany.

  6. An offer has an expiry date.

Marco holds his price for 14 days, Sam for 7. After that, they can revise it or take another booking.

The access

The date
Saturdays from May to September and December nights go first.
The hosting
A DJ who plays music, or a DJ who hosts on the mic all night.
The distance
Outside their usual area, the DJ may charge for travel.

Brussels, in practice

Your night in Brussels, hour by hour.

What to know before a party in the Region’s 19 municipalities and the outskirts: Zaventem, Vilvoorde, Waterloo, Rhode-Saint-Genèse…

  1. 4pm

    The DJ loads the van

Since 1 January 2026, Euro 5 diesel vans can no longer drive in the low emission zone, which covers the whole Region. A provider who brings their own gear needs a compliant vehicle.

  2. 5:30pm

    Unloading at the venue

To keep a spot free in front of the venue, you apply to the municipality several days ahead: 5 working days in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, an Osiris permit and then signs from the City of Brussels. Blocking a spot with chairs is not allowed.

  3. 7pm

    The first tracks

Playing music in a venue may require a Unisono declaration, which covers copyright and neighbouring rights in one go. Many venues already hold an annual licence: ask before declaring it yourself.

  4. 8:30pm

    The speeches, in two languages

In Brussels, a party is often bilingual, sometimes more. Tell the DJ which languages to use on the mic, and which to avoid.

  5. 10pm

    The neighbours go to bed

Night-time noise rules usually apply from 10pm to 7am. Breaches are punished under the Criminal Code and your municipality’s police regulations. Let your neighbours know, and ask the venue what time the party must end.

  6. 2am

    Everyone heads home

Noctis buses run on Friday and Saturday nights from midnight to 3am. Collecto, the Region’s shared taxi, runs every night from 11pm to 6am, from more than 200 stops, at a fixed price.

Before you sign

Eight questions to ask your DJ.

A DJ’s hands on the mixer, a wireless mic in front, a wedding dance floor blurred in the background
  1. How many hours are included, and what does an extra hour cost?
  2. What time do they arrive to set up, and who packs down?
  3. What gear is included: speakers, decks, lights, mic?
  4. Do they follow your playlist, or also take requests from guests?
  5. What happens if they fall ill on the day? On Plaany, urgent mode restarts the search with free DJs.
  6. Does the venue impose a sound limiter or an end time? Have they played there before?
  7. Who handles the Unisono declaration, if one is needed?
  8. Does their vehicle comply with the low emission zone?
Frequently asked questions

Your questions about DJs in Brussels.

How much does a DJ cost in Brussels?

It depends on the duration, the gear, access to the venue and the date. On Plaany, every DJ sends you their price with VAT included before you commit: you compare real offers, not price ranges.

How far ahead should you book?

For a Saturday from May to September or in December, as soon as your date and venue are set. The rest of the year, you have a lot more choice.

Does the DJ bring their own gear?

Usually, yes, and it’s written in their offer: sound, decks, lighting, mic. Check what the venue already provides, so you don’t pay twice.

Do I need to declare the music at my party?

In a venue, a Unisono declaration may be required. Many venues hold an annual licence that covers their space: ask the venue, or otherwise see unisono.be.

Do I pay anything for Plaany?

No. Plaany is free for organisers: you pay for the DJ’s service, at the price in their offer.

What if the DJ cancels?

Urgent mode restarts the search with DJs who are free on your date. And the balance only goes to the DJ two days after the party.
